"International Mollusc of the Year" celebrates five remarkable molluscs each year. Your vote decides the top mollusc, and Senckenbergwill sequence the complete genome of the winner.
This year's winner is the Mediterranean vampire snail (Cumia intertexta). The tiny sea snail was nominated for the title of “International Mollusc of the Year 2026” by Dr. Maria Vittoria Modica of the Anton Dohrn Zoological Station in Italy. Read the Senckenberg press release here.
